           The 2008-founded Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league in India. Major Indian cities have teams in the league, which uses a round-robin group and knockout system. The IPL, which was created by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has grown to be the most lucrative and well-liked cricket league in the world. Matches typically start in the late afternoon or early evening so that at least some of games can be played at night under floodlights for international television broadcasts.
